Entrance exams of Bachelor of Pharmacy

Bachelor of Pharmacy

Bachelor of Pharmacy is a four-year course introduced at Maharajgunj Campus under the Institute of Medicine (IOM) in 2000 AD. It is an undergraduate academic degree in the field of pharmacy. It is divided into four academic years, concentrating mainly on professional pharmacy courses and the supplementary subjects which are essential for the professional pharmacy courses.

Scope of Bachelor of Pharmacy

i) Competently handle dispensing, patient counselling, procurement, drug storage, formulation and small/large scale production.

ii) Work as a team member of health workers in a clinical setting.

iii) Evaluate drug interaction and avoid drug incompatibility.

iv) Provide drug and poison information to the doctors, health personnel and Users.

v) Manage the hospital pharmacy.

vi) Provide over-the-counter (OTC) drugs rationally to the community and generate awareness.

vii) Plan, manage and evaluate retail and wholesale pharmacies and drug industries.

viii) Carry on further studies & research work in different pharmaceutical fields.

ix) Work as an academician in educational institutions.

x) Carry out drug quality assessments using different methods.

xi) Monitor and evaluate quality assurance system serving as GMP superintendent in the drug industry.

xii) Inspect the drug manufacturing plant, storage conditions, drug handling, drug distribution, use and record keeping.

xiii) Work in an industry as a production manager, marketing manager or quality control manager.

xiv) Work on the capacity of Good Manufacturing Practitioner and as an advocator of WHO/GMP.

xv) Play role in the promotion of the 'Certificate of Pharmaceutical Products' moving into international commerce.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Passed 10+2 Science or equivalent (with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology) with 50% aggregate in total marks or a GPA of 2.4 OR

  • Secured the percentage equivalent to the above eligibility in regards to the certificate level programs (eg. A-Level) with different grading systems OR

  • Applicants who have passed the Health Science Proficiency Certificate/Diploma(General Medicine, Medical Lab Technology, Ophthalmic Science, Dental Science, Pharmacy, Ayurveda, Radiography, Physiotherapy) with at least 50% aggregate in total marks AND

  • Registered in Nepal Health Professional Council or Nepal Pharmacy Council or Nepal Ayurveda Council as per related educational program.
